Bethel Township High School was built in 1905 at a cost of $6,400.  It originally had two classrooms on the first floor and a large room on the second floor with a curtain that could be used to divide the room.
In 1917 an addition was built, making the building what it is today.  It became the Bethel Vocational School under the Smith-Hughes Act of 1917.  This act provided federal aid for the purpose of promoting vocational education in agricultural & industrial trades, and in home economics.

The addition was added onto the back of the building and changed the front entrance from Park Avenue to South Park Road.
From high school to vocational school, to grade school, to obsolescence, the 1905 schoolhouse is transitioning itself once again into Bethel Park's cultural center known as The Schoolhouse Arts & History Center.
